I have a Ph.D. in Genetics from Texas A&M University, where I fell in love with teaching. I worked hard at it, taking extra teaching assignments while a graduate student. I earned a B.S. in Biomedical Science from Texas A&M as well.
Experience
As a lecturer at the University of Texas from 2000 to 2015, I taught courses in Introductory Biology as well as Genetics. There I earned various teaching awards from both faculty and students, including the College of Natural Sciences Teaching Excellence Award and the Senate of College Councils' Professor of the Semester. I have conducted thousands of one-on-one and group sessions helping students to break through individual obstacles hindering them. Sometimes those obstacles are about the class material. Sometimes they have more to do with organization or study strategies. Even if you're lost in class and don't know where to start, I can help you. Let's sit down and work it out together.

Hobbies
I spend most of my time raising two sons with my wonderful husband of twenty-one years, Ben. I enjoy exercising, singing in my church choir, gardening, and playing sports with my kids. We have a dog, Cooper, and a cat, Mercy. I volunteer for the Cub Scouts, too. My favorite TV shows are Madam Secretary and Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
